M/s ADNOC Offshore have awarded Al Geemi Contracting Company LLC on 25th of April 2021 the “Zirku Runway Strip Integrity Project” in Zirku Island with a Project Value of AED 55,550,000.00 and a duration of 10 months starting on 28th of April 2021. The Completion Date is on 22nd of February 2022.
The Project is a fast track and critical one as most of the associated works shall be completed during the 30 days shutdown period.
The Project is located at Zirku Island in the Arabian Gulf, within the maritime territories of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). It is 140 km north-west of Abu Dhabi City. Zirku Island is an operating base of ADNOC Offshore, previously Zakum Field Development Company hosting a permanent population of around 4,000 people. The PROJECT plot area is approx. 0.60 Sq. km.
M/s ADNOC intends to construct the Zirku Island Airport Infrastructure on the above-mentioned location, which comprises the following main components:
- Re-Pavement works;
- Taxiway A Upgrade;
- Visual Aids;
- Runway Strip Grading;
- Runway Strip Drainage; and
- GCAA Approval
The Project involves design, construction, testing and commissioning works for the Zirku Runway as the FEED is already completed by M/s ADNOC.
The Project execution will necessitate the transport to the island of bulk gravel, base course, bitumen and piping materials during a very short period.
