Al Geemi Contracting is delighted to announce the award of a build construction contract for the Replacement of Existing 5 Numbers of 33/11 kV Primary Substations with new 5 Numbers of 33/11kV, 4x20 MVA Primary Substations with All Associated Cables in the Eastern Region.
The award of this project is a groundbreaking milestone since it is the first of its kind for Al Geemi Contracting in the area of Main Primary Stations.
The awarded project by Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) with a value exceeding of AED 275 Million, was the result of the strategic vision and leadership as set out by Al Geemi Chairman His Excellency Faraj Ali Bin Hamoodah, and the efforts of Al Geemi Management as well as the tremendous amount of hard work of their MEP Department that led to obtaining the necessary pre-approvals for Al Geemi to participate and win the tender bid.
The scope of work is divided into two main Packages as follows:
1. All necessary design, study, and actions needed to cancel and demolish the Existing 5 Nos. 33/11 kV Primary Substations and return all equipment to ADDC Stores. A proposed power infatuation is also to be constructed at Sweihan , consisting of 5 nos. of 33/11 kV brick-built primary Substations and remote end modifications at the allocated Grid Station.
This includes, but is not limited to, the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of:
a. 33/11 kV, 20 MVA ONAN Power Transformers
b. 33 kV SWGR (GIS or AIS type) and 11 kV SWGR (AIS type)
c. 11 kV Capacitor Banks and Reactors, 11/0.415 kV
d. 1000 KVA Auxiliary Transformers
e. Substations auxiliary systems such as 110 VDC/ 48 VDC DC System, UPS, Charger, batteries and DB’s.
f. 33 kV, 11 kV, LV and Control Cables
g. Substations SCADA Systems including RTU’s
2. All required study, design, and actions needed to execute 33 kV, 11 kV, and FO Cables at ZMC in Eastern Region.
The works under this package shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 33 kV / 11 KV indoor termination kits including all accessories in order to complete the schemes
b. Construction of Concrete manhole with Cover for pulling / splicing of FO Cables
c. Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of FOC splicing joints
d. Excavation to expose existing 33 kV / 11 kV / FO cables for diversion/recovery, backfilling and reinstatement. Re-routing /diverting of existing 33 kV / 11 KV / FO cable through new/existing trench, ducts, cable trays to Substations
e. Collection from ADDC Stores, Transport to site, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 33 kV, 11 KV and FO cables as per the 33 kV SLD, load transfer schemes and FOC Block Diagram
f. Construction of road crossing ducts with required ways by open cut or NDRC
g. Supply and laying of LDPE cable protection cover (Recycle type) and warning tapes for 33 kV / 11 KV cable circuits
h. Asphalt breaking and reinstatement in paved areas including base course and wearing surface
i. Supply and lay UPVC ducts 200 mm dia embedded in concrete for cable laying under all types of tiles, including supply of UPVC pipes 200 mm dia and concrete
j. Removal and reinstatement of sidewalk/car parking areas tiles/Interlocking tiles or any other type of tiles and kerb stones
Currently, the project is one month ahead of its progress schedule and with the determination and state-of-the-art quality standards that Al Geemi continues to commit to delivering, the project is highly anticipated to be a new chapter in the success story of Al Geemi in yet another construction discipline.
